The soul wants to relax, the mind wants to calm down and requests the body to cool down! There are various means to achieve this - meditation, yoga etc. These kinds of activites are incompatible with the current lifestyle of multitasking and juggling between various errands/chores/(and what not) - example- imagine all kinds of other things you do while performing any of these activities - talking on the phone, driving or reading paper or watching TV or cooking. In the midst of such lifestyle where is the time to relax? Well, sleep is a good time to relax. The faster you can free your body, the faster it can go to sleep; and rejuvinate itself, so that it can be prepared for what you undertake the next day or night (if you work at night).
In my quest for the panacea, I discovered "music for relaxation". Various genre within this realm:
Instrumental - Carnatic, Hindustani, Western
Vocal - Carnatic, Hidustani
Chants - Indian (desi), Buddhist, Indian (Native American Indians)
These are again compounded by "Fusion" and "Jugalbandi" genres. I have heard that for devout classical carnatic/hindustani music zealots, fusion is like a sin. But such music serves its purpose.
Yeah, that phase of my life where I am completely into soothing music, esp Indian music.
In my next posts, I will share details about my collection.
